About Me
Ashley is a freshly relocated now-NYC-based paintress hailing from sunny Los Angeles. Following a brief four-year stint in Illinois, she graduated from School of The Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in paint. Her paintings are self-indulgent depictions of alternate universes; she is reduced to a simpler form--tube-like tendrils make up her arms and legs, her eyes are little white circles, her hair is a big brown mop of burnt umber. Obsessed with holes and folds and the places where things meet, she reckons with the barrier that separates now and then with her tongue lodged firmly in her cheek. Every painting is punchy and squishy--they say, “Look at me!”, then say, “Don’t look at me!”, but of course they don’t say anything at all because they’re paintings.
